Passport Service in Indonesia

The Indonesian government provides passport service to its citizens both within and outside the country. This includes both electronic ordinary passports (e-passports) and non-electronic passports. Regular passport applications are submitted to the immigration office in the same province where the applicant's domicile is located. Passports are reissued on expiry of final validity, on exhaustion of visa pages, damage or loss of the passport, appearance/particulars change, etc.

Ordinary passports issued in Indonesia have different types of cover colors and translations. The new version of the ordinary electronic passport is issued with a turquoise green color (hijau toska). It is also issued in a bilingual format as both English and Indonesian are printed on each cover page. The latest versions of the passports include different national birds and sceneries on each cover page. The Indonesian government provides a visa-free privilege for passport holders of other countries to enter Indonesia for short visits biro jasa paspor.

It is important to note that the ordinary electronic passport no longer bears the signature of the holder as it is electronically embedded in the digital information system. It also includes ten-fingerprints and a digital face photograph of the holder. However, the signature of the holder is still manually done during the interview by the immigration officer. It is also noted that the electronic chip should not be bent or exposed to extreme radioactivity devices as it can be damaged by these.

Applicants who wish to apply for a passport in Indonesia must submit a completed application form, one identical color, passport style photograph and a computer generated itinerary from a travel agency or online booking tool (such as e-confirmation from an airline or Travelocity, Orbitz, etc). These documents should be taken directly to the Consulate Office.

A passport photo should be in a light background and have 80% of the face area shown on the photo. It should be a current photo and not one that has been used previously for other purposes, such as a school or work ID.

Business Cover Letter

A business cover letter should be a formal letter on the company's letterhead stating the purpose of the visit and listing a contact at the host company. It should be a document that is on the company's letterhead with the applicant's name and date of birth listed as part of the contact details.
